1. Expansion Overview
“War Within” dives deep into the internal conflicts within Azeroth, specifically focusing on the hidden agendas and power struggles among its factions. Players will explore previously uncharted territories, delve into ancient lore, and confront new threats that have emerged from within the world itself. The expansion is set in Khaz Algar, a new region located off the western shores of Pandaria, known for its rich history and perilous underground realms.
2. New Zones
The expansion introduces several new zones:
- Isle of Dorn: The starting area where players will begin their journey.
- Ringing Deeps: A vast underground network filled with hidden dangers and ancient secrets.
- Hallowfall: An area illuminated by a massive crystal, giving it an almost outdoor feel despite being underground.
- Azj’kahet: Home to the Nerub’ar, a faction led by Queen Ansurek, which plays a significant role in the expansion’s storyline.
3. New Features
Hero Talents are a major addition, allowing for greater customization of character abilities. These talents, unlocked at level 71, offer new active and passive skills that enhance the player’s chosen class fantasy.
Another significant feature is the Warbands system, which introduces account-wide progression for reputations, currencies, and even gear. This makes managing multiple characters much more seamless and rewarding.
Skyriding, an evolution of Dragonriding from the Dragonflight expansion, is now available for most flying mounts and can be used across all flyable areas in Azeroth. This system allows players to toggle between Skyriding and traditional flight, offering more flexibility in how they navigate the world.
4. Dungeons and Raids
“War Within” launches with eight new dungeons:
- The Rookery
- Stonevault
- The Priory of the Sacred Flame
- Ara-Kara, City of Echoes (Level-up dungeons)
- Cinderbrew Meadery
- Darkflame Cleft
- The Dawnbreaker
- City of Threads (Max-level dungeons)
The first major raid, Nerub’ar Palace, takes place in Azj’kahet, where players will face off against Queen Ansurek. This raid is notable for introducing a new “Story” difficulty, designed for players who want to experience the raid’s narrative without the high challenge of traditional raid difficulties.
5. Endgame Content
Delves are a new form of instanced content reminiscent of Torghast but with a focus on quicker, more rewarding runs. These can be completed solo or with a small group and offer meaningful rewards that scale with the difficulty tier. Delves will be an integral part of the endgame progression, offering new ways to earn gear and other rewards.
